Unlock your Potential: Discover the Best Recovery Clinics, Biohacking Centres, and Longevity Studios in the UK

Bellcell, London

As wellness space design experts we have seen a marked increase in anti-aging health clinics, biohacking centres and recovery studios in the UK positioning themselves as recovery studios, biohacking clinics, and longevity hubs.

These wellness clinics deploy state-of-the-art equipment to develop customised treatments and therapies to help improve various key markers of mental and physical health, as well as biological age.

So whether you are an athlete trying to squeeze every drop of performance out of your body or just want to look good and live to 150 (!), these biohacking wellness centres offer access to the latest scientific research and treatments.

These are the six studios reviewed below:

Before we get into the reviews of London's best longevity and biohacking focused wellness clinic concepts, we need to address some of the key terms and ideas driving this trend, so we will pick them off one by one in this order:

  • What is a biohacking treatment?

  • What is a longevity clinic?

  • What is salutogenic design?

  • What is wellness interior design?

what is biohacking and what treatments do biohacking clinics offer?

Biohacking treatments are therapies that aim to optimize the body’s performance and help improve various markers of mental and physical health. These treatments use modern technology to measure and track the body’s various systems, such as hormones, metabolism, immune system, brain function, etc., and then develop customised plans to help improve them.

Common biohacking treatments include nutritional advice, lifestyle changes, supplementation protocols, IV infusion therapy, hormone therapy and more.

The latest trend in biohacking is the use of technology such as wearable devices to monitor biometrics, enabling clients to track their progress and make adjustments as needed. Through this, they can optimise their cognitive performance, physical abilities and future longevity.

By combining traditional medical practices with cutting-edge technology, these clinics are helping people achieve greater levels of wellbeing than ever before. A select view also adopt a holistic approach of deploying wellness architecture and wellness design principles in their interiors to create spaces with additional health benefits for clients.

what is longevity and how are longevity clinics helping people to live longer?

Longevity is the ability to live a longer, healthier life. Longevity clinics offer treatments and services designed to help people achieve just that, via some combination of biohacking treatments, nutritional advice, lifestyle changes, hormone balancing, supplementation protocols, IV infusion therapy and more.

In our view these clinics would be missing a trick if they did not also leverage the latest insights into healthy indoor environments, salutogenic design and wellness interior design, from biophilic design that brings nature indoors, to enhanced indoor air quality, sound reducing surfaces, thermal comfort, circadian rhythm lighting and healthy non-toxic building materials.

The goal of these clinics is to extend the quality of life and delay the onset of age-related or lifestyle diseases. Where it all gets really interesting though is in the biohacking space of hormone replacement therapy, genetic testing, nutraceuticals and metabolism-boosting supplements, some of which enhance cognitive function, others are intended to focus on beauty, maintaining a supple injury-free body, consistent sleep patterns and more.

what is salutogenic design in interiors and how can it be applied to biohacking centres?

Salutogenic design is an interior design philosophy that focuses on creating environments that promote health and wellbeing in everyday life. This approach to interior design is based on the salutogenic model, which emphasizes the importance of identifying and reducing stressors to foster a sense of wellbeing, making it the perfect complement to a biohacking clinic interior design concept.

It takes into account factors such as air quality, lighting, acoustics, ergonomics, and visual aesthetics to create spaces that are conducive to physical and mental health. Salutogenic design has been used to create workplaces, hospitals, residential homes and other settings where people spend large chunks of their time. We use it in coworking spaces, residences and gyms for example, although we often place more emphasis on biophilic design for wellbeing to incorporate an extra dose of stress reducing nature.

what is wellbeing in interior design and how can this be applied to recovery studios and biohacking clinics?

Wellness design in architecture and interiors is the practice of creating environments specifically designed to promote physical and mental health. This includes designing spaces with natural materials and colors, incorporating plants and natural light, utilizing ergonomic furniture, and selecting sound-absorbing materials to create a calming environment. By designing with wellbeing in mind, we can create spaces that not only look good but also make us feel good.

So, with the terminology bit out of the way, let's dive into our expert review of six of London's top clinics for longevity, biohacking and physical recovery.

apogii, london

1. Apogii Clinic

Apogii Cryotherapy and Wellness clinic, “The coolest place in Notting Hill,” takes great pride in its straightforward ethos and personalised approach to meeting each client’s unique skin and body requirements.

Apogii’s signature service is a medical-grade, whole-body cryotherapy session at -110°C –the first of its kind in London. While it only lasts three minutes, the cryotherapy wellness concept can vastly improve your immune system and recovery process, streamline sleeping habits and help with stress management.

Other services include a LED light bed, facial treatments, body treatments and an infrared sauna.

Their current offerings are in packages with the least expensive Revitalise package currently going for £225, while the premium Glow package will set you back £480.

The clinic covers two floors, with décor reminiscent of a cosy Danish warmth lifestyle with neutral colours and comfortable furnishings.

Emilie Martinsen-Konigsfeldt, a Dane and longtime resident of Notting Hill, founded Apogii. A former professional showjumper, Emilie is a staunch believer in the efficiency of cryotherapy for muscle repair. Her Scandinavian roots also show through in the interior design style of her clinic, full of muted browns and beiges thanks to an abundance of natural materials.

2. BelleCell Clinic

London’s Bellecell dubs itself as a ‘molecular wellness centre’. It draws heavily from the biohacking concepts and longevity spa movements in California with a science-based and ‘hyper-personalised’ approach, delivering bespoke wellness clinic programs for wealthy clientele.

BelleCell’s biohacking design consultants’ services cover bioanalysis, biohacking, face treatment, IV drips, body treatments, and aesthetic interventions that cover the breadth of biohacking and longevity concepts.

Facial treatments go from skincare to cryo lifts and LED light therapy, while biohacking here involves a hyperbaric oxygen chamber and Ozone therapy. They also offer IV drips to relieve hangovers, promote weight loss, and reduce stress while enhancing sleep cycles and overall levels of wellbeing - some of these benefits can of course be hard to quantify, let alone put a value on.

Prices are high, but it is what to expect from a clinic just behind the Ritz Hotel in London’s St. James’s district near Mayfair.

The interior design here is deliberately futuristic, as the images show!

the body lab, london

3. The Body Lab

The Body Lab identifies as “where science meets wellness.” By combining the exclusivity of a private gym design with the knowledge of experts and state-of-the-art equipment, it hopes to guide you on the path to better health.

Their personal training regime aims to improve cardiovascular health and muscular strength.

Membership gets you a biomarker analysis, and, more importantly, grants you access to a team of experts who will not only design a customised training programme based on your needs and objectives but craft a recovery plan as well. Members can access advanced therapeutic technologies from the Hyperbaric Hydroxy AirPods to the cryo room.

That translates to personal training sessions, specialist training, floatation therapy, hyperbaric oxygen, cryotherapy, recovery specialists, biomarker analysis, infrared cabins and nutrition services.

Its interior design features dark mood lighting and muted colours for an intimate, upmarket feel with the occasional touch of biophilic design.

Hum2n, London

4. Hum2n

Hum2n wants clients to ''experience health differently.'' The facility boasts state-of-the-art regenerative and integrative therapies to help clients regain mental acuity, accelerate recovery, and improve general well-being.

The centre offers a wide array of cutting-edge regenerative therapies, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, IV ozone therapy, whole-body cryotherapy, intravenous nutritional therapy, IV lasers, infra-red light therapy and NAD+ therapy.

NAD+ therapy is a regimen where you’ll have NAD+ administered intravenously. That allows your body to absorb maximum doses of supplementary coenzymes and transform them into molecular energy, a process believed to slow down ageing. Some research has shown that the protocol may delay the onset of cognitive decline and increase vitality and brain health.

The IV Nutritional Therapy recovery concept revitalises cells through a series of bespoke infusions. Inject the nutrients directly into the bloodstream and experience that energising boost, resulting in an instant and noticeable improvement in mental well-being.

Hum2n longevity clinic design consultants also came up with the SUPERHUM2N programme. The service incorporates intravenous nutritional therapy, laser light therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and cryotherapy to help clients tap into their body’s latent potential for a new health experience.

They offer some of the lowest—as well as highest—pricing in this list. Book a session for as low as £50 at current listings, although the more expensive therapy sessions (hyperbaric oxygen therapy) can cost north of £2,500.

5. Nimaya

Nimaya MindStation, London’s first self-proclaimed “mind gym,” is a holistic wellness and therapeutic centre in Farringdon focused on mental wellbeing treatments as part of an overall mental healthcare concept.

Therapy services include floatation therapy, whole body cryotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, advanced red light therapy bed, infrared sauna, PandoraStar light therapy and body revival.

PandoraStar is a deep trance meditation machine that the Nimaya wellness clinic design consultants meant to get your brain into a hypnogogic state, ripe for elevating into a deep state of relaxation.

Its reported benefits include better intuition, memory, and mental clarity, increased brain function and better muscle and joint pain recovery.

Red light therapy bed sessions hasten the body’s healing processes with red and near-infrared light. The hyperbaric chamber aims to increase oxygen uptake by the lungs and blood, increasing performance, improving injury recovery, and providing anti-ageing benefits. Holistic Treatments include Japanese Integrated Medicine, Japanese Anma Massage, Acupuncture, Physiotherapy, CBD Massage and Craniosacral Therapy. Craniosacral therapy is a message that uses light pressure on the spinal region to relax the body and give it a feeling of well-being. The rest of the treatments involve Japanese Integrated Medicine or can be done separately.
