BIOFIT SUPPORT SUSTAINABILITY

as sustainability advisors to the health and fitness industry we actively support a number of environmental causes every month

we support ECOLOGI to reduce our carbon footprint as gym designers

SUSTAINABILITY & GIVING BACK

Via our contributions to Ecologi, we finance the planting of 48 trees and 3.5 tonnes of CO2 carbon offsets each and every month as a way to reduce our carbon footprint as well as do our part in ensuring a brighter future for the planet through nature restoration via the Eden Restoration Project.

Additionally, for each new Biofit project we complete, a portion of the final invoice will go to Ecologi to finance the planting of 250 trees and 5 tonnes of CO2 carbon offsets.

Projects we have supported via Ecologi include producing electricity from solar energy in Vietnam and restoring forests on the Pacific Coast of Colombia.

We continue to explore other opportunities to give back and welcome the opportunity to collaborate with our clients in that regard. Try us - we might just say yes!

we support Surfers Against Sewage to help protect our oceans

SURFERS AGAINST SEWAGE - ocean activists

As a long-time surfer and sea swimmer the health of our oceans has always been of interest. Over the years, there have been one too many days when paddling out in search of waves I’ve had to gingerly plough through unidentified brown foam with an unpleasant smell, avoid endless plastic bags and bottles, even falling sick with unidentified stomach bugs just a few hours after a long swim. These are obvious slaps in the face for anyone with a love for the water.

Over the past 30 years the situation has only worsened but Surfers Against Sewage have been relentlessly campaigning for cleaner seas, promoting policies that reduce the prevalence of single-use plastics and helping school children understand their role in creating a greener, bluer future for our planet.

As members of the SAS 250 Club our monthly contributions go to support their education programme, beach cleans and campaigns to protect the marine environment, especially from the current plastic pollution crisis. This is meaningful, long-term work and the group look to be tackling the problem from all angles.

we support SUGI

we support SUGI to promote forests and biodiversity

The third of our corporate sponsorships is with SUGI, supporting their work planting Miyawaki forests in cities, schools and green deserts, making them a new player of significance in the rewilding movement.

SUGi Forest Makers and Ocean Gardeners use monthly subscriptions to restore biodiversity and regenerate ecosystems. At the time of writing they are at over 100 projects funded, 135,000 trees planted and 42,500m2 of biodiverse landscape restored.

The Miyawaki method is a 100% natural and organic approach to afforestation specifically designed to create urban pockets of forest in as short a time as possible. Started in Japan, it is said to have a 97% success rate.

Perhaps what is most inspiring about Sugi’s work is how they work across habitats with their projects, from land forests to sea forests, bees and coral.

With big hitting eco warrior David de Rothschild as their figurehead and a string of collaborative partnerships in place with Therme Group (friends from episode 005 of our Green & Healthy Places podcast), Allbirds the sustainable trainer brand and SalesForce (known for their sustainable office designs), we’re happy to support Sugi as they do their part to make the planet healthier and more biodiverse.
