Summary of our ‘Opening a Gym or Fitness Studio’ e-course

Opening a gym or studio business - online course - Biofit’S 4-step process

Who is our gym course aimed at?

Our Opening a Gym or Fitness Studio e-course is aimed at anyone interested in developing a business idea for a new gym, fitness or yoga studio.

We have basically created the course we wished we had found back in 2016 when we were trying to open our own gym in London.

We have condensed all the knowledge we gained from that experience, including all the expensive consultancies we paid for along the way, into four easy to follow modules with detailed insight, a series of simple tasks and example templates to download.

So whether you have a clear vision for your future facility already and want to turn it into a concrete business proposition, or whether you are looking for an opportunity to innovate in the health & fitness space, this course is for you.

What can you expect from the course?

In Module 1 we show you how To analyse the market around you, your local competitors, relevant market trends and customer demographics as a way to familiarize yourself with the specific context of your location.

We also show you a series of our own competitor reviews, fitness industry trends, market maps and customer profiles as inspiration. As a result, you will end up with a thorough grasp of your market and its dynamics, the importance of which is hard to over-estimate in this whole process!

In Module 2 we turn inwards to focus on defining your product in a way that is unique and differentiated, gearing you up for success. We do that by developing a brand proposition and visual style, then assess the different operational models available to you such as classic memberships vs class-based packs, dig into the people you will need on your team and what overheads that will equate to, then develop some ideas around the facility interiors through visual mood boards.

In Module 3, we guide you through creating a robust financial model based on a series of key assumptions for your pre-opening capital expenditure and operating expenses, as well as your projected operating expenses and sales revenues once you open for business.

A template assumptions sheet is provided as a download to get Your business plan off to The right start.

In Module 4, we look at what needs to happen in the 3-12 months before opening, from evaluating possibles sites, to recruitment and team-building, to completing the interiors and sourcing equipment, as well as a sales and marketing plan.

The two downloads provided in this fourth module are the Biofit site evaluation matrix and a marketing plan template to help you on your way.
