The Brief
Sani Resort wanted to elevate its fitness and recreation offer across multiple parts of the resort, while ensuring that each intervention responded appropriately to its immediate setting and guest profile.
This was not a one-size-fits-all gym consultancy assignment. Different areas of the resort served different audiences, and the sports and fitness offer needed to reflect that. Some interventions were highly performance-led, while others needed to feel more relaxed, outdoors-oriented or integrated into the wider family resort experience.
A key objective was to expand the resort’s outdoor fitness offering, using the landscape as an asset and creating training environments that felt more engaging and place-specific than conventional hotel gyms. At the same time, indoor gym facilities also needed to be updated in selected locations, with a stronger emphasis on quality, durability and user experience.
Our role as resort fitness advisors
Biofit’s involvement covered multiple workstreams over time, including:
strategic fitness advisory across the resort
design of outdoor gyms in several locations
indoor gym equipment upgrades
flooring and finish recommendations
specification of weather-resistant outdoor training equipment
support with outdoor yoga and class programming
swimming pool equipment and accessory upgrades
contribution to a wider future sports centre masterplan
This made the project less about a single facility and more about shaping a resort-wide fitness ecosystem.

Design approach
Our approach was guided by three main principles:
1. Outdoor fitness as a premium guest experience
Rather than treating outdoor exercise as an add-on, we approached it as a genuine part of the resort’s active lifestyle offering. This meant creating outdoor gyms that were robust, visually appropriate and enjoyable to use in a hospitality setting.
2. Fitness concepts tailored to different resort zones
Each hotel and sports area had its own character, so the equipment mix, design language and level of intensity needed to vary accordingly.
3. Durability, safety and climate suitability
Because many of the outdoor fitness installations were left outside for the duration of the operating season, equipment selection required careful consideration. Products needed to be weather-resistant, safe, operationally practical and suitable for unsupervised guest use, with the option to cover or store components during the low season.
Sani Beach Hotel (Sani Resort)
At Sani Beach Hotel, Biofit designed an outdoor gym built around a custom functional training rig by BeaverFit UK, together with a supporting equipment package suited to outdoor resort use.
The concept was developed to offer guests a more open-air, experience-led training environment while maintaining the performance capability expected from a premium hospitality fitness offer. Because the equipment would remain outdoors throughout the season, material resilience and guest safety were central to the specification process.
Alongside the outdoor facility, we also worked on upgrading the indoor gym equipment offer at Sani Beach, helping improve the quality and overall coherence of the fitness experience for hotel guests.
Sani Club (Sani Resort)
At Sani Club, our work included both indoor and outdoor interventions.
Externally, we introduced a BeaverFit Shred Shed outdoor gym, creating a compact but highly functional training zone appropriate for the hotel’s setting and guest profile. This also allowed for off-season storage of the workout equipment, a practical consideration given the specific location of this outdoor gym area.
For the indoor gym, we upgraded the indoor gym with a curated package including:
Stages spin bikes
Lacertosus strength equipment including stainless steel weight plates for a luxury aesthetic
all-black wood finish NOHrD dumbbells for a deliberately refined, high-end finish
new specialist gym flooring to improve both user comfort and visual presentation
This combination helped reposition the fitness offer as both more premium and more visually resolved, while still delivering the robustness needed for resort operations.
Sparta Gym
One of the most distinctive interventions within the Sani Resort portfolio during our time as a strategic advisor was the Sparta Gym.
This was conceived as an outdoor obstacle course race-inspired training environment, immersed in nature and designed to encourage a more adventurous, playful and physically engaging form of outdoor exercise.
The concept combined wood training structures by Legnolandia with selected outdoor functional training equipment by Rogue. We identified a series of six specific locations within a forested area with existing paths and worked with the Sani team to create an accessible jogging route of around 200m connecting all the exercise stations together.
Rather than replicating a standard gym outdoors, this ‘Sparta Gym’ deliberately created a more memorable and place-specific fitness experience, drawing on the appeal of obstacle training, natural movement and outdoor exercise. It offered something clearly differentiated within the resort’s broader sports and recreation mix.
Sani Sports Centre
At the Sani Sports Centre, we developed another outdoor training intervention based around a BeaverFit Shred Shed, complemented by an accessories package and selected equipment from Lacertosus and Rogue.
This installation strengthened the Sports Centre’s ability to host a wider range of functional training and conditioning activity, while also broadening the resort’s appeal to more active guests seeking performance-oriented exercise options.
The Sports Centre work formed part of a larger strategy of making fitness more visible, accessible and varied across the resort estate, effectively taking the fitness component of the existing guest journey and taking it outdoors, increasing overall user capacity and adding perceived value at the same time.
Outdoor yoga and group exercise programming
Beyond physical gym infrastructure, Biofit also worked with the Director of Sports & Recreation to help shape new class programming for an outdoor yoga deck.
A notable part of this concept was the use of Bluetooth headsets, allowing yoga teachers to communicate clearly with guests and play music without disturbing the surrounding environment. This created a more immersive and operationally refined outdoor class experience, particularly relevant in a luxury resort context where guest privacy, ambience and sound control all matter.
This move reflected a wider theme in the Sani Resort work: creating fitness experiences that are not only functional, but also carefully aligned with the hospitality setting.
Aquatic fitness and poolside activity
Our role also extended into swimming pool equipment and accessory planning, including support for aqua gym equipment and stand-up paddleboards to enable new on-water class concepts.
This broadened the definition of resort fitness beyond the gym, helping the client think in more holistic terms about how exercise, recreation and wellness could be programmed across land and water-based settings.
Masterplan input for a future sports centre
In addition to the delivered interventions, Biofit was also involved in the planning of a new centralised sports centre intended to serve the wider Sani Resort.
This formed part of a larger masterplan upgrade process involving Gensler Architects and the Sani Resort executive team. Our contribution focused on the sports and fitness dimension of that future vision, ensuring that the development of new infrastructure was informed by operational logic, guest expectations and evolving wellness trends.
This strategic layer is an important part of the story, as it shows the relationship extended beyond equipment selection into wider planning and advisory work.
Equipment and specification strategy
A key strength of this project was the careful matching of equipment to context.
Across the different Sani Resort interventions, Biofit worked with a mix of specialist brands selected for their relevance to outdoor durability, functional training, aesthetic quality or hospitality suitability, including:
BeaverFit UK
Lacertosus
Rogue
NOHrD
Stages
Legnolandia
The specification approach balanced several priorities at once:
weather resistance and outdoor performance
safety for guest use
visual quality appropriate to a luxury resort
functional variety across different training styles
operational practicality for seasonal use
Outcome
The Sani Resort project demonstrates how a resort can move beyond the standard model of a single indoor hotel gym and develop a more varied, experience-led and strategically integrated fitness offer.
Through a combination of outdoor gym concepts, indoor upgrades, class programming and broader sports planning, Biofit helped create a stronger active wellbeing proposition across several parts of the resort. The work responded to different guest profiles, different physical settings and different use cases, while maintaining an overall commitment to quality and hospitality relevance.
For Biofit, this project is a strong example of how fitness consultancy in hospitality can operate at multiple scales: from equipment details and flooring upgrades to outdoor training concepts and long-term leisure masterplanning.
working with the sani team was a lesson in warm, greek professionalism and 5-star standards. their brief to me was to ensure their fitness offer was collectively on a par with or ahead of the very finest resort fitness facilities in the world.– Matt Aspiotis Morley
