Why choose Environmentally Conscious gym gear?

In our quest to deliver ever cleaner, plastic-free and environmentally-friendly gym interiors for hotels, offices and corporations, we continually test out product innovations that are nudging the industry as a whole forward towards a more eco future.

Conscious Choice gym equipment

Swedish brand Casall has done just that with their Conscious Choice collection of gym kit. The fitness sector has a long way to go and we have never hidden the limitations inherent in creating a truly green gym today, whether a home gym, hotel gym or commercial gym; there simply are not many options available in each product category.

That said, the obstacle is the way, and we continue to support gym equipment suppliers with genuine eco credentials, such as Casall.

Sustainable green materials in gym equipment

It’s all about the materials when looking at gym equipment, Casall define their parameters as being a “minimum of 25% recycled, organic or bio-based” - a fairly modest target by some standards but, given how much plastic dominates the gym industry today, this is still a meaningful commitment.

ECO yoga mats

We use a lot of bamboo in our flooring choices and even as wall decor thanks to it bing a highly replenishable resource so it is no surprise to see that Casall have zeroed in on it for their yoga mats that contain 25% biobased materials such as bamboo, rice husks, straw and agricultural waste. This route offers considerable reductions in CO2 emissions compared to the far more common EVA foam used in most yoga mats. Finally, the mats are fully recyclable, giving the product range an important end-of-life twist.

Sustainable mobility equipment

Complementing the eco yoga mats are a foam roller, lightweight yoga block and mobility ball, all hitting the 25% bamboo and rice husk material target that, according to Casall, reduces the use of non-renewable energy sources during production by up to 50%.

Cork gym products

Casall first grabbed our attention with their range of sustainably produced Portuguese cork exercise mats, travel size massage rollers and solid cork yoga blocks. Their handsome natural aesthetic helps them stand out in any retail context and we’ve had time to test out the mats in our own home gym over recent months.

Recycled natural rubber gym gear

Completing the growing eco gym range by Casall are their recycled natural rubber yoga mats made of previously discarded rubber offcuts, making for a 25% reduction in fossil fuel and energy use compared to their previous production process. Weighing in at a hefty 3kg, this is a chunky and solid mat designed for regular users looking for extra comfort.
