Is a plastic-free gym design even possible?
Any gym design project that comes our way as gym consultants is going to require an upfront conversation with the hotel or resort client early on around their preferred value system.
There are those that prefer to focus on reducing all forms of plastic from their hotel gym for example, while others may still be focused on sustainability but consent to us specifying natural materials such as leather.
An eco gym design example
By way of illustration, for the eco-friendly Fritton Lake barn gym we designed we were able to use natural leather as the hotel is part of a rewilding farm that breeds cattle, serves its own beef on its menus and, while treating the animals humanely, does breed at least some of them specifically for meat. In this circumstance, it was deemed entirely appropriate to include natural leather medicine balls in our gym equipment list.

For us though, MVP remains a go-to option for sourcing the finest natural leather equipment for our gym design projects, our only hesitation is depending on the location of our hotel or resort projects, the air freight costs associated with importing from New Zealand, where this gym equipment brand is based. Typically this does not present an insurmountable problem for a client.
